Hornsea 4 is an Ørsted offshore development whose previously planned delivery was discontinued in its current form.

Where is it?

The Hornsea offshore development area in the North Sea. Use project planning documents for boundaries; the REPD marker is a reference location.

Development position

On 7 May 2025, Ørsted said it would stop further spending and would not deliver Hornsea 4 under its AR6 CfD. It retained seabed rights, the grid agreement and development consent while evaluating future development options.

Capacity and turbines

Ørsted’s announcement describes the 2,400 MW project. The snapshot records 180 turbines; neither figure demonstrates installed equipment or a revised construction commitment.

Related projects and phases

Hornsea 4 is separate from Hornsea 1, 2 and 3. Their operating or construction status should not be applied to Hornsea 4.
