Berwick Bank is SSE’s offshore wind development in the outer Firth of Forth, planned across three phases.

Where is it?

Around 38 km east of the Scottish Borders coastline, according to SSE.

Development position

SSE’s 14 January 2026 announcement reports offshore array consent in July 2025 and a 20-year AR7 CfD for Phase B. At that announcement, a final investment decision for Phase B was expected in 2027; a CfD award is not an operating wind farm.

Capacity and turbines

SSE targets 4.1 GW across the full project. Its Phase B contract covers 1,380 MW, rounded to 1.4 GW in the headline. The snapshot’s 307 turbines are a project record, not an installed count.

Related projects and phases

The Phase B award covers only part of the development. SSE described phases A and C as available for later auctions; do not report the whole 4.1 GW as contracted under this award.
